Program Overview
This program will provide health care professionals with an understanding of sleep dysfunction and pain. After completing this program, participants will be able to recognize the prevalence and impact of chronic pain and co-morbid sleep dysfunction.  Participants will then be able to identify and describe the mechanisms responsible for the bi-directional relationship between pain and sleep. Next, the program will provide health care providers to be able to describe the impact of opioid therapy on pain and sleep and assess and diagnose sleep dysfunction in the context of chronic pain and opioid therapy. Finally, participants will know how to manage both chronic pain and co-morbid sleep dysfunction with an appropriate intervention which maximizes pain relief while minimizing sleep related adverse events
