    Cirrhosis is the 12th leading cause of death in the United States. This means that roughly 30,000 deaths annually are the result of cirrhosis complications. The liver is responsible for the metabolism of a tremendous number of medications. Appropriate dosing of medications in cirrhotic patients is important from both a safety and an efficacy standpoint.
