Program Overview
At the completion of this activity, participants will be able to discuss patient literacy as a barrier to understanding prescription label instructions and list items required on a prescription label by the FDA or state boards of pharmacy. Participants will also be able to identify aspects of existing medication labels that prevent clear understanding of directions or reasons for use. Lastly, participants will know how to describe at least four changes to medication labels that can improve clarity and reduce errors, which include a discussion of relatively recent initiatives (e.g., ClearRx).
