Program Overview
This program will provide participants with an understanding of current ADHA treatments and their relations to older methods. After completing this program, pharmacists and nurses will be able to outline the percentage of children and adults receiving medication for ADHD. Pharmacists and nurses will know how to describe the two basic groups of medications used to treat ADHA to include the mechanisms of actions and common side effects associated with the most frequently used medications. Lastly, pharmacists and nurses will know how to identify at least one new drug used to treat ADHD (introduced to the market in the past year). Pharmacy technicians will know how to in general terms, describe the number of people being treated for ADHD and outline the two basic groups of medication used to treat ADHD.

Nurse Educational Objectives
  • Outline the percentage of children and adults receiving medication for ADHD;
  • Describe the two basic groups of medications used to treat ADHD to include the mechanisms of action and common side effects associated with the most frequently used medications
  • Identify at least one new drug used to treat ADHD (introduced to the market in the past year)
