Program Overview
This program will provide participants with an understanding of pharmacology in thyroid conditions. After completing this program, participants will be able to explain the pathway of thyroid hormone synthesis as a basis in the understanding of the mechanism of action of the thyroid and anti-thyroid medications. Participants will know how to explain the pathophysiology of thyroid problems and be able to list the different medications that are being used clinically for the treatment of thyroid conditions. Next, participants will be able to describe and demonstrate the uses of the thyroid and antithyroid medications in the clinical setting as well as describe the mechanism of action of the drugs used in the treatment of thyroid problems. Lastly, participants will be able to explain the adverse the effects of the drugs used in treating thyroid problems and correlate the knowledge gained from this monograph in clinical practice.
