Program Overview
This program will provide nurses and pharmacists an understanding of antiretroviral treatments. After completing the program, participants will be able to identify the CD4 counts and viral load levels that indicate the need for treatment initiation or revision. Secondly, participants will be able to outline the roles of resistance and adherence in selecting appropriate combination regimens. After completing the program, health care providers will also be able to describe which combinations are preferred agents and for whom. Lastly, participants will be able to differentiate the use of fixed-dose formulations from antiretroviral regimens with high pill burdens, including a discussion of where the newest agent, Complera, might fit into a treatment plan.
