Program Overview
This program will provide nurses and pharmacists with an understanding of anti coagulation and medicinal treatment. After completing this program, participants will be able to list common indications for anti coagulation and understand as well as describe the mechanism of thromboembolism for each indication. Participants will also know how to explain the traditional risk factors and the current anticoagulant treatment guidelines for each indication. Finally, participants will be able to list the commonly used anticoagulants, their side effects, dosage forms and schedules, and understand each anticoagulant’s ability for rapid reversal.
