Program Overview
There has been an increasing prevalence of vitamin D deficiency in the US and worldwide over the recent years. Vitamin D deficiency has been associated with cancer, diabetes, hypertension, and multiple sclerosis. The normal physiology of vitamin D metabolism will be described along with contributing factors to vitamin D deficiency and its diagnosis. The mechanisms of the link of these associations are not fully elucidated. However, vitamin D deficiency needs to be identified and treated appropriately.
