Program Overview
A general description of von Willebeand disease will include the prevalence and presentation of symptoms. Von Willebrand disease is being recognized in outpatient and inpatient settings more frequently. The treatment is based on a tiered approach including oral contraceptives, nasal & intravenous DDAVP, and factor concentrate. Pharmacy considerations for the inpatient and outpatient pharmacy will be discussed in relation to the treatment of von Willebrand disease.
