Program Overview
Every year millions of Americans travel abroad.  International travel necessitates additional considerations to ensure the safety and health of the traveler.  While it is impossible to cover every possible international location Americans might travel, this presentation will address immunization schedules for travel-related vaccines identified by the CDC; including:  Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Japanese encephalitis, Meningococcal, Polio, Rabies, Typhoid fever and Yellow fever.  In addition to discussing these particular vaccines; participants will become familiar with medication regimens used for malaria prophylaxis and the treatment of Traveler's Diarrhea.

  • List resources for health information related to international travel
  • Outline immunization schedules for travel-related vaccines
  • Identify recommended immunizations for international locations commonly visited by U.S. residents
  • Describe the importance of malaria prophylaxis and identify potential medication regimen(s) based on the travel destination
  • Identify a treatment regimen for Traveler's Diarrhea
