Program Overview
Psychotherapeutic drugs are commonly prescribed for the treatment of depression, anxiety, schizophrenia and mood disorders, and represent one of the fastest growing classes of drugs in sales. Along with the increase in numbers of prescriptions comes an alarming increase in overdoses and severe adverse effects. This presentation will review the clinical effects and treatment overdoses of antipsychotics, antidepressants, and sedatives, as well as serious adverse effects including neuroleptic malignant syndrome and serotonin syndrome.
