Program Overview
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) publishes drug safety communications on a frequent basis and in 2011, over 50 drug safety communications have been issued. It can be difficult for pharmacists to stay up-to-date with these communications and determine which communications should result in changes in practice. This evidence-based, patient case presentation will review several drug safety communications that effect everyday practice. The risks and benefits for patients taking simvastatin, varenicline, celexa, pioglitazone, drosperinone, bisphosphonates, and other medications will be discussed. The participant will be able to determine the significance of various safety warnings and develop appropriate therapeutic options for patients impacted by these FDA safety communications.
