Overview

When asked about what issues plague the profession of pharmacy, most practitioners would name burnout as a major concern. The oversaturated job market is one of many factors causing burned-out pharmacists and technicians to feel stuck in a job without any hope of change. Literature shows that this attitude and a negative workplace environment causes more injury, which, over time, can lead to burnout symptoms. Furthermore, research shows workplace burnout as high as 50-70% over the last 20 years, with little being done to address this issue for pharmacy practitioners. In this class, practitioners will learn the devastating facts about how burnout impacts not only the practitioner, but also loved ones and patients. Last, this course will help to give the practitioner tools to learn how to change his or her personal circumstances despite a feeling of burnout as well as make steps toward changing their professional environment.
