    • Overview

Accounting for approximately 1 million cases annually, shingles is a concern that many American’s will face, sometimes resulting in problematic medical complications.  When appropriate, vaccination for shingles can be an appropriate course of action.  This session seeks to examine the circumstances under which vaccination is advised.  Available vaccines are examined using clinical studies as a foundation for the evaluation.  Finally, patient barriers are discussed as they relate to immunization and the role of the pharmacist and pharmacy technician is examined within the context of practice scope.
