    • Overview

This home study will meet the LGBTQ Cultural Competency continuing education requirement for Washington, DC. The focus of this activity will be transgender healthcare. Transgender patients experience unique barriers to health care which results in substandard care for many individuals. One of the greatest barriers is lack of knowledge by health care providers of current standards of care transgender individuals. Pharmacists can play a critical role in educating patients regarding their medication therapies and promoting patient engagement with appropriate medical providers as necessary. This education session will seek to provide a basic understanding of health disparities, barriers to care, and medication therapy that is used in the care of transgender persons. Focus will be on medication therapies discussed in the current USCF, Endocrine Society, and WPATH guidelines.
