    • Overview

This learning activity is intended for pharmacists practicing in the clinical care of patients with immuno-oncology therapy. Due to the complexity of the material, this activity is not recommended for those without a baseline knowledge of basic immune-oncology principles prior to participation in this activity.

With rapid advances in the field of immuno-oncology, pharmacist's roles continue to expand and evolve. This program will relate the pathophysiology of selected cancers with the mechanisms of immuno-oncology therapies as well as discuss current/emerging pharmacologic treatment options in this field. Strategies to counsel and assist patients to overcome barriers to therapy, including treatment side effects to improve adherence will also be discussed. It is essential for pharmacists to be aware of the new immuno-oncology medications to optimize patient care and deliver evidence-based pharmacologic management of cancer.
