    • Overview

This learning activity is intended for pharmacists practicing in the clinical care of patients infected with hepatitis C virus. Due to the complexity of the material, this activity is not recommended for those without a baseline knowledge of hepatitis C therapy prior to participation in this activity. For an overview of new direct-acting agents please take our home study titled “Hepatitis C: An Improved Treatment”.

Since the approval of the highly effective Hepatitis C protease inhibitors, the treatment options for hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection have evolved substantially. In addition to improved sustained virologic response (SVR), these new regimens are simpler to use, have a shorter duration of therapy and an improved side effect profiles. This activity will discuss currently available Hepatitis C agents as well as treatment strategies and then utilize case examples to illustrate care considerations.
