    • Overview

In the fall of 2012, an outbreak of fungal meningitis was sweeping through the United States. This outbreak was traced back to improperly compounded drugs. In the aftermath of this tragedy, a flurry of new regulations surrounding pharmaceutical compounding were put into place. This monograph aims to describe the issues behind the outbreak, the new regulations that have been established, and outline the responsibilities of compounding pharmacists to comply with the new regulations in the interest of patient safety.
