    • Overview

With the role of a pharmacist expanding to include additional clinical functions such as medication therapy management and collaborative practice, it is essential that an evidence-based approach is taken when evaluating and designing pharmacotherapy regimens. COPD affects approximately 24 million patients in the United States, and is a commonly encountered disease state in the healthcare arena. Guidelines are available to help guide the assessment and treatment of COPD; therefore, it is imperative that pharmacists have the ability to assess and apply them when contributing to the design and monitoring of patient-specific drug regimens for COPD.
