    • Overview

      >Behavior change is a key component to the successful management of chronic diseases (i.e. diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, smoking cessation, weight management, etc.). However, eliciting these changes in a patient can be very challenging, especially to get the patient to continue with the changes long term. This presentation will provide an overview of motivational interviewing, and strategies used to promote behavior change and lead to improved disease outcomes and patient adherence. It will also provide practical techniques for the implementation of these strategies into clinical practice (even for experienced practitioners).
