    • Overview

A mere half century ago, the Pharmacist Code of Ethics forbade a pharmacist from talking with a patient about the patient’s medication.  Current legal standards have taken a one hundred eighty degree shift from that obsolete position.  This monograph examines the patient counseling standards that apply in pharmacy practice today.  The monograph considers how violation of these standards may lead to malpractice liability.  Strategies for liability avoidance are discussed.

This monograph is provided for educational purposes only. It is not intended as legal advice and should not be used as legal advice. For legal advice, a licensed attorney should be consulted.
