    • Overview

The monograph describes how the establishment and operation of a continuous quality improvement (CQI) program can reduce pharmacy exposure to legal liability.  In malpractice cases, judges and juries are more sympathetic with pharmacists and pharmacies that tried hard to prevent errors, yet an error occurred despite these best efforts.  A state CQI program is used as a model for pharmacy malpractice avoidance.  Organized CQI prevents errors and it reduces liability for the errors it does not prevent.
