      Cirrhosis is the 12th leading cause of death in the United States. This means that roughly 30,000 deaths annually are the result of cirrhosis complications. Numerous complications can develop in these patients, including ascites, spontaneous bacterial peritonitis (SBP) and hepatorenal syndrome. Each of these complications associated with profound morbidity and mortality.
