    • Overview

Community pharmacists have patients with a variety of disabilities, one of the more common being hearing impairment. According to the American Academy of Family Practitioners, hearing loss affects approximately one-third of adults 61 to 70 years of age and more than 80 percent of those older than 85 years. Pediatric patients with otitis media and proper dosing are frequently encountered in the pharmacy. Adults also seek relief first at the pharmacy for treatment of tinnitus and vertigo, which over the counter treatments are of minimal value. Our presenter "Professor Pete" Kreckel shares his personal experiences with hearing impairment and his use of "hearing systems".
