    • Overview

An estimated 350,000 to 500,000 adults in the United States have bronchiectasis, an ailment that occurs when the walls of the bronchi thicken as a result of chronic inflammation and infection, leading to an accumulation of mucus secretions.  While many of the symptoms parallel chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder, bronchiectasis is a completely different entity with its own treatment parameters.  This session seeks to evaluate the current options for the treatment of bronchiectasis and to highlight the role of the pharmacist in the integrative care of this patient population.
