    • Overview

Dravet Syndrome (OS) and Lennox-Gastaut syndrome (LGS) are severe epileptic encephalopathies that ·occur early in life. Characterized by recurrent seizures, both syndromes are difficult to diagnose and treat. While multiple pharmacologic and nonpharmacologic interventions exist, careful selection of therapy is paramount as some medications can exacerbate seizures. As the pharmacotherapy expert, pharmacists can play a major role in ensuring safe and effective therapy for patients by educating providers on appropriate medication choices and doses; and accurately providing education and counseling on medication therapy to patients and family members.
