    • Overview

Burnout has been identified as a barrier for the health and well-being of professionals across several disciplines, including healthcare workers, educators, and other professionals. Pharmacy preceptors are uniquely at risk for burnout since the position includes aspects of both healthcare and teaching demands. Burnout is a condition characterized by a high degree of emotional exhaustion and depersonalization, as well as a decreased sense of personal accomplishment at work. Resilience can be part of an effective plan to treat and prevent burnout and increase personal and professional engagement for preceptors.
