    • Overview

With the rising costs of health care, individuals and businesses alike are searching for ways to reduce spending on medical expenses. HSAs and HRAs are attractive tools for employers and individuals, providing a variety of tax advantages and savings on health care costs. This course will provide pharmacists with the information they need to know about HSAs and HRAs in order to assist their patients and customers.

The HSA is arguably the most tax-advantaged vehicle available. Though funds in the HSA must be used for medical purposes until age 65, the account can be used for any purpose after age 65 – just as in the case of a regular IRA. In addition, employers are increasingly favoring HSA plans because of their lower premiums. Yet the average HSA owner may be completely unaware he or she is able to purchase medical items through their HSA. Therein lies the potential for a pharmacist to increase the bottom line. This engaging course will enable you to explain the advantages of the HSA to your customers in an elementary, need-to-know manner. Simply having an understanding of the recent law changes allowing for many OTC items to be paid for with the HSA, for instance, will put you a step ahead of your competition. Take this course, then, and your more informed and increased client base will thank you.
