  • Overview

Compounding is essential for treating patients that have unique needs preventing the "one-size fits all" approach of approved products. These patients often include pediatric and veterinary patients, but can include adults as well. Despite the need for pharmacists to compound, compounding is being pushed aside in pharmacy school curriculum to make room for other topics resulting in new graduates with little compounding knowledge. This CE provides practicing pharmacists and pharmacy technicians with the basic information essential to compound capsules, suspensions and transdermal products for their patients. A review of USP 795 requirements, compounding resources, and general considerations for compounding different dosage forms for different types of patients will be included.
