  • Overview

Clostridium difficile is a leading cause of hospital-acquired infections and is often fueled by inappropriate antibiotic use. Applying stewardship principles for Clostridium difficile infection (CDI) prevention is a key to reducing the burden of disease. Management of CDI requires targeted antibiotic therapy and careful assessment of modifiable risk factors to prevent recurrence. Emerging therapies and treatment strategies offer future opportunities to optimize care of patients diagnosed with CDI. This program will discuss CDI risk factors, treatment strategies of initial and recurrent CDI, and emerging therapies in the pipeline.
