Sumit Gandotra is a third year pharmacy student at University of Maryland School of Pharmacy (UMSOP) in Baltimore, MD. He has a great passion for Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (ID) due to having an eight year background as a Microbiology Medical Technologist at St. Agnes Hospital in Baltimore, MD. Currently, he is involved with St. Agnes’ Antimicrobial Stewardship Committee tracking appropriate antibiotic use. Additionally, he helped create and serves as Chairman of an ID subcommittee within the American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP) student chapter at (UMSOP) that is aimed at educating 6th and 7th graders about microbiology, vaccines, and proper hand-washing techniques. His goals after graduation are to specialize in ID Pharmacy, head an Antimicrobial Stewardship Program to combat rising antibiotic resistance, and to be a leader in the community.
