    • Overview

The most common causes of death in the US are cardiovascular disease and cancer. Other causes include pulmonary disease, neurodegenerative diseases and general debility. Most, but not all advanced illnesses are likely to have a painful component to the disease process, which we often do a poor job of managing. Participants in this program will leave about the causes of pain in the most common advanced illnesses, the pathogenesis of the pain and strategies to best manage the pain.
