      This session is part of the Pain Management Specialty Pharmacist series. It explores the effective management of pain within the context of the current opioid crisis. This session examines non-pharmacological options that may be employed for the management of pain, including psychotherapy, mind-body therapy, physical therapy, and occupational therapy. The session includes a discussion of passive non-pharmacological treatments such as TENs, massage, ultrasound, and acupuncture.

      Recognize appropriate patient recommendations and explanations for passive non-pharmacological treatment options including nutrition, heat/cold, TENs/EMS devices, hyperbaric oxygen, spinal manipulation (chiropractory), massage, ultrasound, paraffin wax, infrared light, spinal traction, and acupuncture.
      Select appropriate healthcare team recommendations for marijuana/cannabinoid product drug-drug interactions and patient recommendations for anticipated side effects.
