    • Overview

      Critically ill patients in the intensive care unit often require fluid resuscitation to maintain adequate blood perfusion to vital organs. This session seeks to explore the physiology of fluid balance and homeostasis, as well as appropriate bedside approaches to monitoring fluid balance. Furthermore, it will discuss new and emerging literature regarding the appropriate pharmaceutical approach to fluid resuscitation, as well as the exciting new topic of “de-resuscitation” in the stabilized patient.
