This 20-hour specialty certification, consisting of 15 actvities, will be an in-depth exploration of the self-care products arranged by therapeutic category. There will also be a smattering of product history, along with the connection to the prescription department. Pete’s tagline on his business card reads “where academia and community pharmacy meet”. When you enroll in this course, you can sense yourself standing in his 1,200 square foot drug store with this experienced pharmacist as you sharpen your self-care clinical skills.
To qualify as a Self-Care Specialist, one must enroll in in each of the two (2) live SCS webinars given throughout the year (or SCS home study webcasts) and successfully complete the thirteen (13) additional webcasts. Once all requirements have been completed, the participant must pass a final comprehensive exam (70% of better) to earn their Self-Care Specialist Certificate of Completion.
Some important notes to remember regarding the Self-Care Specialist (SCS) Specialty Certification:
Registration costs $128 for members, $393 for non-members
The final certification exam consists of 100 unique multiple choice questions
A minimum score of 70% is required to obtain your Certificate of Completion
You have only three (3) attempts to pass the final certification exam
You may not leave the final certification exam in the middle and return at a later time
The final certification exam has no time limit; however, we recommend that you write the answers down in case you lose your Internet connection of get interrupted while taking the exam
You will earn continuing education credit as you complete each activity, totaling 20 credits upon final completion of all activities
You will have 12 months to complete the specialty certification before it expires from your account
