Diabetes management in older adults involves more moving parts than a single guideline can capture: individualized glycemic targets, comorbidities, functional decline, and hypoglycemia risk all factor in. This 3-hour, board-approved course brings those pieces together, building practical, case-tested skills as you work toward Florida’s consultant pharmacist CE requirement.
Diabetes Management in Older Adults is a comprehensive continuing education program is designed to enhance participants’ ability to provide evidence-based, patient-centered diabetes care for older adults.
The program begins with a 1-hour expert-led webinar reviewing current recommendations for individualized glycemic targets, medication selection, treatment simplification, continuous glucose monitoring, and strategies to minimize hypoglycemia while addressing the unique challenges of aging, comorbidities, and functional decline.
Learners will then reinforce these concepts through an interactive online module featuring a review of contemporary literature, knowledge checks, case-based learning activities, and practical exercises focused on deprescribing, medication optimization, and individualized care planning.
Together, these learning experiences provide pharmacists with practical tools to improve diabetes management, enhance patient safety, and support quality of life for older adults across a variety of care settings.
