Pre-Diabetes to Diabetes: Can We Stop the Progression?

15oct8:00 pm9:00 pmPre-Diabetes to Diabetes: Can We Stop the Progression?

Event Details

Prediabetes is a highly prevalent condition in which blood glucose levels are elevated but not yet in the range for diabetes, offering a critical window for prevention. Lifestyle changes such as improving diet, increasing physical activity, and achieving modest weight loss are the most effective strategies to prevent or delay progression to type 2 diabetes. Pharmacists play a key role by identifying at‑risk individuals, providing education, performing screenings, and referring patients to evidence‑based programs like the National DPP. In high‑risk patients, metformin may be considered to reduce progression. Early, consistent pharmacist involvement can significantly improve long‑term outcomes.
