Florida Pharmacy Technician CE Requirements for 2026

A Simple, Stress-Free Guide to License Renewal

If you are a pharmacy technician in Florida, continuing education is required to keep your registration active. Understanding the Florida pharmacy technician CE requirements for 2026 will help you avoid renewal delays and stay compliant with the Florida Board of Pharmacy.

This guide explains how many CE hours you need, which topics are required, and how freeCE can help you complete them.

Florida Pharmacy Technician License Renewal Deadline

Florida pharmacy technician registrations renew every two years. Licenses expire on December 31 of even-numbered years.

For the 2024–2026 renewal cycle, all continuing education must be completed by December 31, 2026.

Missing the deadline may result in an inactive license or additional fees, so planning ahead is important.

How Many CE Hours Are Required in Florida?

Most registered pharmacy technicians in Florida must complete:

  • 20 total continuing education hours
  • Earned within the 24 months before renewal
Required CE Topics

Out of the 20 total hours:

  • 2 hours must be in medication errors
  • 18 hours may be general pharmacy technician CE

Only Board-approved or ACPE-accredited courses count toward renewal.

First-Time Renewal CE Requirements

If this is your first license renewal, your CE requirement may be lower.

First Renewal Less Than 12 Months After Registration
  • 3 total CE hours
    • 2 hours medication errors
    • 1 hour HIV/AIDS education
First Renewal 12 Months or More After Registration
  • 12 total CE hours
    • 2 hours medication errors
    • 1 hour HIV/AIDS education
    • 9 general CE hours

These reduced requirements apply only to your first renewal cycle.

Are Live CE Hours Required in Florida?

No. Florida no longer requires pharmacy technicians to complete live CE hours.

All CE hours may be completed through:

  • Online live courses
  • Self-paced on-demand learning

As long as the course is approved, the format is flexible.

CE Reporting in Florida

Florida uses CE Broker as its official CE tracking system.

  • CE providers report completed credits directly to CE Broker
  • Pharmacy technicians should regularly check their CE Broker account
  • Keep copies of certificates in case of audit

Choosing the Right CE Provider

To ensure your credits count, your CE must be:

  • Approved by the Florida Board of Pharmacy, or
  • Accredited by ACPE

Taking unapproved courses can delay renewal even if you complete the hours.
